Emma Alonso is the main protagonist in Every Witch Way. A new student at Iridium High, Emma is the main character of the series, and also a witch. She's the Chosen One, the most powerful witch, and her guardian is Lily, the school nurse. In season 3, she is a waitress at the The Beachside 7 and becomes more independent with her powers. In the season 3 finale, she chooses Jax over Daniel.
Emma is portrayed by Paola Andino.
History
After standing up to the Witches Council, Emma has finally embraced all that comes with being the Chosen One and she’s not backing down. Emma is ready to start making her own rules no matter the cost. With everything on the line, can she overcome her obstacles or will she lose it all?
Season 1
In Season 1, Emma Alonso moves to Miami, Florida with her father. She enrolls at Iridium High, making new friends (like her best friend Andi), and even developing a crush on dreamy Daniel Miller. After learning that she is a witch, Emma gains a guardian named Lily, who helps her with her magic and spells.She also makes a new enemy, Maddie Van Pelt, who is Head Panther. Throughout the season, Emma and Andi discover more about her powers and spells. They also find out that The Principal and Maddie have powers of their own. Diego Rueda, a friend of Daniel's, also has powers, but it is discovered that he is a Churi Kanay, not a wizard. At the end of the season Emma is revealed to be the chosen one and she along with Maddie defeat the principal and save the world from destruction.
Season 2
Now that she's The Chosen One, Emma is learning more about her powers and prepping for every obstacle headed her way. A new student, Jax Novoa, enrolls at Iridium High. She learns that he is a wizard and they become friends. Desdemona becomes Emma's new guardian after Lily leaves for council training. During the Fool Moon, Desdemona is trying to wreak havoc upon the Magic Realm.
Emma has to hide her powers from Daniel, otherwise she will lose them because it is forbidden for a witch to be dating a human. When Emma makes multiple clones of herself, Daniel finds out and breaks up with her. The council also finds out and are about to take her powers when Jax steps in and takes the blame. His powers are then taken and Emma thanks him by kissing him. She later starts hanging out with Daniel more because she is still in love with him and Jax is always busy. In Katie's Birthday Bash Emma removes the spell cast on Daniel. In BF-Never Emma says Daniel always has time for her and in The Abyss they kiss and get back together. After defeating Evil Emma and Desdemona turning back to normal, she and Daniel hug.
Season 3
Drama is stirred up when Mia appears. Emma gets sent to boot camp for a short time along with Jax. Emma also loses Daniel for a while, when he has been infected by Mia's spider seal. Luckily, Daniel gets reverted to normal and starts dating Emma again, however the two of them break up again as Daniel refuses to believe that Mia is evil. Towards the end of Season 3, Emma had to choose between Jax and Daniel. Emma took one of their hands and transported to the pool where it is revealed she chose Jax. They come up to the side of the pool and share a kiss and are finally back together.
Season 4
Shortly after Emma's decision to choose Jax over Daniel, she discovers some unsettling news: Daniel has disappeared and no but her remembers him. Emma eventually finds out that she has caused a Continuum Break, where because of her decision, Daniel has been sent to an alternate life. Now Emma has only a few days to make Daniel remember his real life or he will disappear from the world altogether. Emma is able to convince everyone to help her search for Daniel and soon find him living in the Everglades with his family and Mia, someone else everyone forgot existed. Emma tries to get Daniel to remember, but to no avail.
After a mishap, Emma tells Daniel the truth about magic and the Continuum Break and is happy that he decides to return to Miami with them, despite everyone's warnings of the dangers. When Emma and the gang arrive back in Miami, they help Daniel to try and regain his memories. They have no luck at first, but after going to a strange resturaunt called Lola's Daniel is able to regain most of his real memories up until he met Emma and he believes Maddie is his girlfriend, much to Emma's jealousy. Eventually, Daniel's final day to fully remember his real life had arrived and Emma was desperate to help him before he completely disappeared.
Emma and the gang tried many different methods to help Daniel, but they all fail; even the Hexoren didn't have a spell that could help. However, Emma came up with one last idea and brought Daniel to his house, where she thought it would really help him. Daniel kissed Emma which finally broke the Continuum Break. However, Emma soon realized that Jax had witnessed the event and Daniel soon becomes disappointed with her as he remembers of how she chose Jax over him. She told him that she couldn't explain why she chose Jax and that she just had a feeling. Jax was still upset at Emma for kissing Daniel but she then explained to him that Daniel kissed her and that she pushed him away. Jax felt dumb for not trusting her and they kissed and continued their relationship.
Emma then meets Jax's mom, who is revealed to have been hiding with Jessie, Jax's sister, all these years. Jax and Liana talk about life and their family, but then Emma gets jealous of Jax having his mother back, so she tries to find out more about her own mother and decides to go back in time and save her. Emma also begins to abuse her powers as she uses them for basically everything now and even causes trouble by freezing time.
Physical Appearance
Seasons 1 & 2
Emma is shown to have olive toned skin with long brown hair and brown eyes. At school, her uniform consists of a flappy khaki skirt with a blue sophisticated buttoned jacket, orange shirt, and her colorful socks with her silver shoes. Emma's wears lots of jewelry like a necklace, earrings, and a lot of bracelets at least 6 on each arm making 12 bracelets (approximately) in all. She had a cute kind of fashion sense and wears lots of strappy sandals and different kinds of earrings.
When she's not at school, Emma likes to wear lots of dresses and skirts as well. She wears her glittery sneakers very frequently.
Season 3
In Season 3, Emma looks a bit more older and mature but still has her same features. Her hair is more curly and longer than the previous seasons. She noticeably wears more makeup and jewelry. She also wears clothes that are more colorful.
Season 4
Like Season 3, Emma looks a bit more mature than previous seasons. Emma looks even MORE mature this season than last season. But some things have stayed the same. Emma still has long, curly hair, (although in the first few episodes Emma's hair was usually in a braid), and she does seem to be wearing more makeup than usual. Jewelry is usually not noticeable, but at times is. And we usually see her in her school uniform, which hasn't changed the past 3 Seasons.
Personality
I cast a spell it takes ahold of you
Emma can be shown to be a bit too nice and honest at times. She can also be a bit devious but is still a sweet and charming girl. Emma is sometimes clumsy when it comes to magic and is not as tough as she thinks she is. However she's very caring and doesn't like to let her friends down.
Season 1
In Season 2 she is shown to stand up for herself more than earlier. She rebels against the witches council when they try to force her to break up with Daniel. Though they do punish her with spells, she stands her ground for the most part. She is a bit more careless with her powers, as the Fool Moon made her lose her filter on thinking and doing. She also let her guard down by using the cloning spell Jax taught her in Double Trouble.
In Season 3 she is shown to be a bit more rebellious. Her friends and family always come before the magic realm to her. She fights more for what she believes in, like turning Philip human, not giving up her powers, and ditching Rebel's Boot Camp for her dad's birthday party. She seems to finally accept her role as the Chosen One and begins make decision for the magic realm, like making Andi the first human-guardian.
In Season 4, Emma is trying everything in her power to restore Daniel's memories due to the Continuum Break. However, Emma is letting this affect both her relationship with Jax and her friendships. Emma is continuing to ignore everyone's warnings and she hasn't really been considering how everyone feels of the situation. After the Continuum Break ends, she becomes careless with her powers, and uses them more than necessary, to the point where the Council threatens to take her powers, once and for all. The continuum break shifted her personality, so now she has become a spoiled brat, and she was being selfish and also bossy. Emma has also been shown to no longer take what the Council say seriously and begins to disrespect them, even casting a spell on them.

She and Jax met in Season 2 in the episode Jax of Hearts. They got off to a rocky start, but went on good terms after he helped her numerous times with magic-related issues. Emma has been friends with Jax since Werewolves in Siberia but it has been revealed in Stormageddon that she has developed feelings for him. In About a Wizard Jax saves Emma from getting her powers taken away by sacrificing his powers for hers. Emma then kisses Jax for doing so, and they begin dating. She broke up with him in the Abyss because Emma said their too different and that Jax should be with someone more like him. In Emma vs. Emma, he tried to apologize for acting selfish, but he saw her with Daniel, and was hurt. He almost went through with his dad's plan to rule the Magic Realm, but saved Emma's life by giving her back her powers when E, Emma's evil clone, almost threw her in the light. However, Jax still has feelings for Emma but this is when Emma starts dating Daniel once again.
In Season 3 it shows that Jax and Emma are still friends. This season Emma and Jax are closer than ever, Emma completely trusts Jax even after what had happened last year. Jax is devoted to getting Emma back. He sticks by her side in boot camp, against the witches council, and when Daniel is under the influence of the spider seal. She admits in the episode, The Truth About Kanays, that maybe she and Daniel weren't meant to be. In Kangaroo Jax, Jax tries his best to protect Emma from Mia, who was trying to destroy Emma, Maddie, and her friends. After Jax was turned into a kangaroo by the Witches' Council, she demanded that they change him back, worried about him. He at first, did not want Emma to change Phillip, Andi's video-game zombie boyfriend, into a human, afraid of the consequences, but in the end, helps her by getting the Crystal De Caballero from Mia.
Emma and Jax Together in Season 2.
At the end of Season 3 Emma and Mia gets sucked into a video game and Jax comes to rescue them. While, in the video game Jax and Emma sit down and Emma says "We might not get out." Jax then scoots closer and says "There's no place I'd rather be." he continues, "Everything I've done this year, everything I've accomplished, it's all for you." Emma says "You don't have to prove yourself to me, Jax." Jax says "Only you know the real me." Emma then thinks back to when they first met until now and Jax tells her "I believe in my heart that you and I belong together, but you have to choose, you can't have both of us." Emma says "I never--" Jax then cuts her off and says "I know, I know but when we get out of here, you have to decide, is it Daniel or is it me?"
When they finally get out of there and everyone leaves, Daniel walks up and says "Come on, I'll walk you home." and
then Jax walks up and says "Let's get out of here, come on." Emma walks up to them and grabs one of their hands and they teleport to the pool where it is revealed that she picked Jax, they then swim up to the side of the pool where they share a kiss and are finally back together. In Season 4 Jax and Emma officially become a couple. When Emma chose Jax she caused a continuum break which caused Daniel to be bumped into a alternate life. Emma becomes obsessed with finding Daniel and helping him remember his life with her. This causes Jax to get jealous but Emma has always told him that he doesn't need to be jealous because she chose him instead of Daniel. However, that didn't stop Jax from being jealous, as he saw how Emma acted around Daniel and was even more upset when she admitted about being upset seeing how Daniel tried to kiss Maddie. Eventually, Jax became truly heartbroken when he witnessed Emma and Daniel sharing a kiss. Once Daniel got his
memories back he asked Emma why she chose Jax and she said that she couldn't explain and that she just had a feeling. In Diego's Wipedown Emma goes to see Jax because she found that he saw her and Daniel kissing so she wanted to show him what really happened. So they time jumped to when Emma and Daniel kissed and Jax sees Emma pushing Daniel and saying that she is with Jax. Jax then apologizes to Emma for not trusting her and she forgives him and then they kiss. Jax tells Emma about him finding his mother, and she encourages him to talk to her and get to know her better. Later, Emma tells Jax that seeing him with his mom made her miss hers, and he helps her in trying to bring her mom back.

Emma and Daniel meet in Discovery, Season 1, when Emma is moving into her new house. Daniel is seen walking out his house with Mac Davis' pair of dirty socks on a stick. He puts them in the trash and he finds Emma across the street staring at him and he stares at her. A Bunch of butterflies fly across the street to Daniel's house and he yells "BUTTERFLIES!" because he's allergic to them.
On Emma's first day at Iridium High, Daniel is assigned to be her tourist. Emma is handed her registration paper and Daniel walks in, at the moment a butterfly appears in the office and since Daniel is allergic to butterflies he sneezes and startles Emma, causing her to knock down the pencils in the office.
Emma and Daniel shake hands and Emma runs out the office, this is where she bumps into Maddie Van Pelt, Daniel's ex-girlfriend, and levitates her smoothie before dropping it on the floor. "Who are you!?" Maddie asked and Daniel yells "Emma!" causing Maddie to become jealous of rage and start a hurricane in the hallway.
Emma and Daniel start having feelings for each other from the very first episode to the last episode of season 1. Even though Daniel finds out that Emma has her powers he still likes her for who she is with or without powers. In the last episode The Chosen One Emma and Daniel have their first kiss and become a couple at the end of the episode.
In season 2 Daniel breaks up with Emma after finding out she lied about having her powers back. Even though they broke up, they still care a lot about each
other. They get back together in The Abyss after they kiss. In Emma vs. Emma Daniel rescues Emma from being sucked into the portal and Emma then hugs him for saving her. In Season 3 Emma and Daniel still show their love to each other than Mia trying to break them apart. Daniel also sings another song for Emma called "Always You". Later Mia puts a spider seal on Daniel e him to act strangely and even break up with Emma for a short time. However, they soon get back together after Mia removes the seal. Daniel still loves Emma. Even though the spider seal was removed Daniel continued to be close to Mia and that made Emma very upset because she didn't trust Mia. In The Truth About Kanays Daniel tells Emma that he wanted to take a break because he felt that Emma still had feelings for Jax. In the season 3 finale Daniel asked Emma to choose between him and Jax. Emma chose Jax over Daniel ending her relationship with him.
In Season 4, when Emma discovers that Daniel has been sent to live an alternate life and that she is only person who remembers him, she does everything in her power to find him and restore his memories, despite the warnings she recieves of him disappearing from the world if she fails. Once she is able to find him, Emma tries to get him to remember his real memories and is able to convince him to return to Miami with them. Although Emma is in a relationship with Jax, it appears that she still has feelings for Daniel as she was upset to discover his relationship with Mia and it's starting to already deeply affect her relationship with Jax. In The Final Countdown, they share a kiss, in an attempt to get Daniel's memory back. Jax sees this and leaves, hurt. Emma, though, pushes him away and says that she's with Jax. The Continuum Break then ends and Daniel remembers Emma picking Jax over him. Daniel is upset that he has nothing: Emma, Mia, or his snake Billy, which he remembers having for ten years. He tells Emma that the Everglades is his life too and he wants to go back.
Andi Cruz

When Emma first arrived at Miami, Andi was the first person who met her and helped her move in. She is formally addressed as Emma's sidekick as well. Andi also helps Emma throughout the season with her powers too. Emma and Andi's relationship was put to the test when Andi told Emma that she needed to take her witch powers more seriously while Emma thought it wouldn't be a big deal if her powers got stolen and she could be a normal girl. However, Andi said she had this amazing gift and that she didn't seemed like she cared about them being stolen. After that she had walked away from Emma. In Walk Like a Panther they made up when Emma depantherized Andi and saying that she'll try her best about keeping her powers. They along with their friends defeat the Principal in The Chosen One.
In Season 2, Andi tries to convince Emma to consider breaking up Daniel so she won't lose her powers. She comforts her when Daniel finds out Emma's powers are back and breaks up with her. She doesn't seem all to thrilled when she starts dating Jax. In Zombie Boyfriend, Emma brings Andi's zombie boyfriend to life before he's killed in the video game. Emma then lets her keep him knowing that Philip was Andi's first real boyfriend. In Andi & Philip, Sittin' in a Tree, Emma sent Philip back into the game which upset Andi and caused her to be mad at Emma and Andi cuts her off. In Emma vs. Emma Andi and Emma become friends again after Andi admits that Philip was a little dangerous.
In Season 3 Andi is willing to help Emma find out what's wrong with Daniel. Also, they venture out into the Magic Realm to talk about Andi becoming a gurdian, but are kicked out, but Emma ia determined to help Andi. Andi warns her that Mia is out to get her, and even goes on a secret mission to take down Mia, but it goes awry. Emma enlists the help of Jax and goes searching for her, and finds her at Mia's house. Emma decides to help her best friend and keep Phillip after hex brings him out of the game. In New Witch Order Andi becomes the first human guardian and Philip gets turned into a human.
In Season 4, Andi helps Emma find out where Daniel has disappeared to, even though she herself has no idea who he is. They along with Jax, The Panthers/Sharks, and Lily take a road trip to the Everglades to find him. When they see that Daniel is well, happy, and with his family, Andi ecourages Emma to leave things as it is, but Emma refuses, saying this is not his real life. Andi is unhappy with Emma in the situation as she seems to only be thinking for own needs and not being more careful of the consequenses. Emma wanted to travel back in time, and Andi didnt approve. Because of this, Emma retracts her statement of And becoming a Guardian and their friendship is on a hiatus.
Maddie Van Pelt

Emma is Maddie's nemesis in Season 1. Maddie became jealous of Emma the first day after she saw Daniel showing Emma around the school. Things get worse when she learns that she and Emma are both witches, when Maddie
believes that she should be the only witch at Iridium High. She has decided that she wants to "destroy" Emma for stealing Daniel from her. In The Big Chill, she wanted to cast a spell for everyone to ignore Emma but instead it backfired and froze Emma instead. She cries for Emma after believing the Principal disintegrated her, and asks herself what has she done. In the last episode Maddie and Emma end up teaming up to defeat the principal, which causes Maddie to lose her powers. In Season 2 Maddie loses her powers and tries to get them back from whoever took them. Little does she know her mom has her powers. Emma and Maddie have to work together when Ursula (Maddie's mom) casts a spell on a pie
and makes Francisco (Emma's dad) fall in love with her. Emma finds out someone put a spell on the pie and quickly reverses it to prevent her and Maddie from becoming sisters. She invites Emma and Andi over for a sleepover because she believed Emma has her powers. In Outta Hand Maddie learns her mom has her powers and in Double Trouble she gets them back from her mom. She helps save Emma and Daniel from the Abyss by teleporting in Sophie, who has the key. In the Season 3, they seem to still be frenemies. Maddie blames everything on Emma after she froze time. In Back To Back, they get magically stuck together by two pieces of the Cristal the Cabllero. Later, they both get trapped in the janitor's closet and almost freeze to death. In Kangaroo Jax, they along with Jax, Phillip, Andi, and Diego are held hostage by Mia.In the finale, Emma and Maddie become closer and share their first hug after she rescued her, Jax and Mia from the video game.
In Season 4, Maddie helps Emma find out where Daniel is by letting Emma use her mom's PI (Private Inventigator). When Emma finds out he is in the Everglades, Maddie reluctantly agrees to go with her, along with Jax, Andi, Diego, Katie, Sophie, Gigi, and Lily. Emma stole Maddie's powers in Frenemies without her knowing. Now she, along with Andi, Diego, and the Panthers, are avoiding Emma at any cost. They stage a 'witch-ervention' to explain to Emma the consequences with manipulating time, but it doesn't seem to change her mind.

Emma and Diego don't talk much in Season 1 until they team up with the rest of the Sharks and the Panthers to defeat the Principal in The Chosen One. However in The Breakup, Diego tries to cheer Emma up after her breakup with Daniel by making her a sundae from his new sundae bar. They also talk about Gigi acting strangely, and if she knows about the magic realm. In Emma vs. Emma and I'll Stop the World Diego said they should call Emma because Maddie's spells were a little off. Diego also tried to Diego always tries to persuade Maddie to have Emma help them and is very dependable on her at times. In Season 3, they, along with Gigi and Daniel, have jobs at the Beachside 7, and she is one of Diego's waitresses.

Since Maddie and Emma are enemies, Maddie has taught Katie to dislike Emma just as much as she has. Katie is Maddie's second-in-command and during In Season 1 Katie also disliked that Emma and Daniel were dating and told Maddie that Daniel would always get back together with her until Emma showed up.
They do not interact much in Seasons 2. In The No-Sleep Sleepover Katie helped Maddie find out if Emma still had her powers. She along with Andi, Sophie, and Maddie, asked the T3 to create a metal key that will open the abyss and save Emma and Daniel. In Season 3, she admits to everyone that Mia is out to get witches, especially Emma.

In I'll Stop the World Emma helped get Sophie out of the abyss and Sophie warned
Emma about Evil Desdemona trying to trap her. In Season 1 Sophie had the most respect for Emma out of all The Panthers and wanted Emma to turn Beau back into a lizard. (Instead of Maddie) There is litte interaction between them in Seasons 2 and 3, besides the times Sohie helped save Emma from danger.

Emma and Mac didn't talk very much but they seem to be nice to one another and have respect towards each other. Mac also seemed to like that Emma is a witch and was amazed by her powers.

Mia was plotting to destroy her as revenge for the Principal killing her parents. She did numerous things to hurt Emma, like putting a spider seal on Daniel, making Emma and Maddie stuck together with the pieces of the Cristal de Caballero, trapping them inthe janitor's closet, and holding her, Maddie, Jax, Diego, Phillip, and Andi hostage. She believed all witches were evil until Emma promised no harm would come to her. Therefore, Emma and Mia decided to end their war between witches and Kanays and are on good terms.

Emma and Jessie met in Twisted Sister, after Jax introduced her to Emma. They have talked briefly, but seem to get along. In Monkey Face Emoji, Jessie talks to her about being a witch and getting powers. Emma tells her if she has any questions, feel free to ask her anytime Later, she takes Jax's phone and texts Emma to come to the house. Emma, thinking Jax is in trouble, rushed over. She was a little upset that Jessie impresonated him, but forgave her. Jessie introduced her to her and Jax's father, who invited her in for tea.
Powers and Abilities
- Telekinesis- Emma can move things with her mind. In Discovery, she opened the fridge without touching it. Emma opened Jax's door with a spell.
- Levitation- Emma was also able to levitate Maddie's drink with her mind. She accidently levitated in the air.

- Photokinesis - Emma lit up a lamp even though it wasn't plugged in yet.
- Transformation- In The Big Rescue she cast a spell turning Andi into a goat. According to Lily, this is one of the powers of the Chosen One.
- Shape shifting- In The Breakup, she shape shifted as she tries to turn her locker into a bird but it backfires and turns her into a bird. In Stormageddon, she shape shifted into Maddie during magical truth or dare.
- Spell Casting- Emma has the ability to cast spells. In The Big Chill, she cast a spell on Daniel which made him swim as fast as a fish. She reversed Maddie's spell and turned Lily back into a human. In Double Trouble, she made a clone of herself so she can go on her date with Daniel while her clone went to the math presentation. In Beach Birthday Bash, she cast a spell to reverse Desdemona's love spell on Daniel. She cast a spell to turn Desdemona to stone. In Season 3, her powers are more advanced where she can cast spells withouth saying words.
- Teleportation- Emma can teleport with the help of spells. In The Big Rescue, she teleported into the pool. In Magic Fight Club, she teleports Andi into the pool. Later on in Season 1, Emma learns to teleport without spells. She also teleports Daniel into the pool, but mostly her transformation spells always seem to transport people to the pool in season 1 and season 2. She teleports the Witches' Council into the pool in Runaway Witch. She teleports Philip out of the video game in Beach Birthday Bash and back into the video game in Andi & Philip, Sittin' in a Tree. She teleports herself as well as Jax and Andi to the pool when she sends Jax's powers to the pool in Neverending Summer. She teleported herself as well as Andi, but still headed ended up in the pool in Back to Square One.
- Conjuration- Emma can conjure objects/animals out of nothing. When she first encountered Daniel he gave her butterflies in her stomach, and then a swarm of butterflies appeared out of nowhere. And again when she is nervous about her first day a butterfly appeared next to her backpack. So it is apparent that this ability is triggered by emotion. She tries to conjure a rose but instead conjures a snake instead.
- Animal Transformation- Emma turned Andi into a goat in Season 1 and accidentally turned herself into a bird in Season 2. (Emma Wants a Cracker)
- Time Freeze- Emma used this spell accidentally in Beachside 7 when she was trying to prevent a tray from falling to the floor. She also a spell that froze the cafeteria twice, but this spell affected witches and kanays.
- Invisibility- Emma turned invisible when she touched the Cristal de Caballero.
- Cloning- Emma cloned herself four times, creating Evil Emma, Lazy Emma, Hippie Emma, and Nerdy Emma.
- Reality Warping- Emma alternated reality when she chose jax over daniel and then everybody forgot Daniel. Lily said that this is a power the Chosen One only has.
- Power Removal- In Power in a Bottle, Emma strips the Council of their powers.
- Atmokinesis- In Diego's Wipedown, Emma makes it rain on the Council.
- Time Travel- She traveled back into the past to show Jax what happened after Daniel kissed her.
